Town of Marana Finance department earns national budget award | Community Spirit
The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GOFA), has awarded the Town of Marana Finance Department, with their Distinguished Budget Presentation Award.
The award is for the Town’s Fiscal Year 2013 budget and comprehensive financial plan. In order to receive the honor, “a governmental unit must publish a budget document that meets program criteria as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide and communications device.”
Budget documents must also be rated 'proficient' in all four categories, and in the 14 mandatory criteria within those categories, to receive the award.
This is the sixth year in a row Marana has received this honor.
“The Town of Marana is committed to providing residents and business owners with detailed financial information that follows the highest principles of governmental budgeting,” said Marana Finance Director Erik Montague, in a recent news release. “We practice transparency in everything we do.”
