All the water that was
being drained from the roof came down to the ceiling, where the panels soaked
through quickly, became too heavy to stay up and fell to the floor. Most of the damage was contained to the deli

Customers and employees
were evacuated from the building, and according to Northwest Fire officials no
injuries were reported.
Power was shut off to the
building as a precaution, but not just to the store. According to Tucson Electric Power 360 homes
were without power, as of 9:45 p.m. Thursday night. Work by TEP crews continued through the night
until all power was restored.
As for what comes next,
damage to the store is estimated at $10,000 according to store
representatives. Replacements need to be
finished up, and then health and safety inspections conducted before the
Safeway is again reopened.
No word on when that will be.
