Speller wins with 'Sustenance'

A seventh grader from Marana Middle School correctly spelled "sustenance" to win the Marana Unified School District spelling bee.

Jeremy Parry outlasted 28 students who competed this morning at Mountain View High School to take top honors in the spelling bee.

The original field was 5,500 spellers, ranging from elementary to middle school students.

1st place through 4th place will proceed to the Pima County Spelling Bee at the Berger Performing Arts Center on the Arizona Schools for the Deaf and Blind campus on Feb. 18 at 10 a.m.
